Pinhole Landscapes
Pinhole photography was used as the method in an aesthetic investigation in a
series of garden images featuring flowers, plant material, insects and butterflies. Exploring the taboo subject of beauty, these photographs evoke traditional
romantic compositions, but they do not imply nostalgia. Instead, through the act of visual fetishsization and consumption, the distorted subject matter and surreal color Imply disturbing artificiality emphasizing abyss rather than transcendence. The series culminated with a large -scale installation commissioned for the GSA’s Art in Architecture Program. The work was featured in 100 Artists of the West
Coast, Douglas Bullis, Schiffer Books, 2004.
