Facts and Fictions Tour
This audio project was developed after several months of collaborative research with local historians and geologists in an outlying suburb of Gothenburg, Sweden, a region populated largely by recent immigrants and refugees from around the world. Comprised of a series of stops based on environmental facts and local mythology derived from the material landscape, the tour negotiates the fluid boundaries between nature and culture. Leads participants deeper into a Swedish forest the audio provides a performative opportunity to examine individual conceptions of the space of nature. The poetic tour ends at a picnic table set for a “Fika”(a traditional Swedish coffee) in the middle of the woods. Participants with no guide must make their own way back through the forest.
